You have visited the lakes and the high altitude adobe of waterfalls and rhododendron forests. Now it is time to move away from all those and get to some area, where there are full of activities. If you are really looking for such an area, North Sikkim has that in her resource. Chopta Valley is the name of the place – A valley that is 17,000 square feet in area and has every feature that you need to feel relaxed under the sky of Nature’s beauty garment. The place is also the adobe of several rare Himalayan birds and of course is a great spot for the amateur trekkers to trek down their road to the valley.

Things to do

Chopta Valley is having all the things to entertain you, including a paragliding over the Himalayas, a water game time and even engage yourself in some of the explorations. The place is only few kilometres from teh Gurudongmar Lake and if you are fond of trekking, you can trek down your path to the valley through the soft snow and the low lying mountains of the area. The path will give you lots of things including a view o the world of birds.

Things to view

There are basically two major things to be done at the area, although things to do at the area are much. The first work of yours will be to reach Chandrasila and pay a visit there. It is the location of Himalaya, which is at the north eastern border of Sikkim and is also the place which makes Uttaranchal at Vicinity. From the Hill top, you can watch down the different peaks of Uttaranchal, including that of Kedarnath hill top. Another place, which makes the most attractive location of the place, is the Tungnath temple. This one is a temple of Lord Shiva and is one of the oldest temples in the region too, which is 1000 years in age, made completely of Himalayan rocks and is also the highest temple of Shiva in the world.

How to reach

The best way to reach the valley is by trekking. However, you can get hold of a taxi too from Lachen to reach there.
