Howrah Bridge a famous symbol of Kolkata and West Bengal, carrying daily traffic of approximately 1,00,000 vehicles and possibly more than 1,50,000 pedestrians. If there is one experience that must be tried in life in Kolkata is the Hooghly cruise ride at just Rs. 39. The Hooghly cruise ride along the Hooghly at just Rs. 39 will provide you the surreal views of the Howrah Bridge with the backdrop of a sunset.
From 1 October, the West Bengal Transport Corporation had made this a much more affordable affair. The WBTC has launched a 90 minutes cruise ride on the Hooghly along with Kolkata’s heritage landmarks, starting and ending at Millenium Park jetty, at just Rs 39 per person.
What tourists can see?
Tourists will able to see Mayer Ghat, where Maa Sarada, wife of Ramkrishna Paramahamsa, used to visit daily. Tourists will be able to pay homage at Nimtala Ghat, where several legendary icons, including Rabindra Nath Tagore and Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose, have been cremated.
Tourists can enjoy the Hooghly cruise ride from 4 pm to 6 pm from Monday to Friday and from 12 pm to 2 pm and 4 pm to 6 pm on Saturday and Sunday. Special arrangements can be made for educational tours. Tourists can snack at the cruise cafeteria on board and also remember the day through photos taken at the selfie booth. A free tour guide will also be available to help tourists identify the various attractions along the way and the history behind them.
Currently, due to Covid-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, safety protocols will be followed, and to maintain social distancing, a maximum of 150 peoples will be allowed on board.
