Flybig, India’s newest airlines launched


Flybig newest airline of India took off on 3 January 2021 with the airline code S9. The first set of flights will be between Ahmedabad and Indore, with more destinations to come within the week.

Who is Flybig?

Flybig is a regional airline that will leverage the Indian government’s UDAN initiative to provide connectivity to destinations previously not accessible by air.


The company has received a No Objection Certificate from the Ministry of Civil Aviation and received its Air Operator’s Certificate (AoC) on 14 December 2020. They began their operations with a fleet of a single aircraft comprising an ATR-72-500. The company’s focus is to serve Tier-2 cities and aims to build a fleet of more ATR-72s and the HAL manufactured Dornier Do 228 aircraft and eventually expand to a fleet of 20.

Before the airline began any scheduled flights, the airline had won its first route under a government Tender to serve Shillong from Delhi. The flights commenced on December 21 2020 and to fulfill its obligations, the airline Wet-leased a Dash Q400 from SpiceJet.

Indore will be the hub of flybig will provide services to all over the country. Currently, direct flights are between Ahmedabad and Indore. From 13 January, direct flights will operate between Indore and Raipur. Also, from 13 January, Raipur and Ahmedabad via Indore will avail the flights. Flights between Ahmedabad and Bhopal will commence from 1 February.

The flight is also operating between Delhi and Shillong.

Flight price

The cheapest one-way fare between Ahmedabad and Indore for 22 January is Rs 1,864, while on the way back, it is Rs 2,645. Effectively, return airfare between Ahmedabad and Indore is Rs 4,509.

The flight is also providing complimentary snacks. As of short routes, onboard food is currently not available.
